The Sky's the Limit - What's Your Personal Everest?
Fundraising Ideas
There are lots of ways to raise funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation – the possibilities are endless! You could:
- Hold a coffee morning, dinner party or a themed fancy dress party
- Shave your hair off or dye it a pink, blue, yellow etc.
- Hold a treasure hunt or a table quiz
- Sponsored swim, cycle, fast, silence or walk
- Charity football/rugby/hurling match: encourage some friendly rivalry between teams!
- Use your hobby to raise funds such as art, music or drama to hold an exhibition or performance
- Organise a charity golf tournament, fashion show or masquerade ball
- Tug of war
- Hold a car boot sale
- Organise a barn dance or barbecue
- Be sponsored to get fit and lose weight or give up smoking
- Raffle: send letters to local businesses asking them to sponsor you or donate a prize to your raffle
- Free Dress Day: get your children’s school or your workplace involved
- Raffle or sponsor your services for a day: do you have a particular skill or hobby that could help other people for example dog walking, cleaning, gardening or ironing.
- Dinner Party: invite your friends for dinner and charge them a certain amount per person.
- Bag Pack: ask a local store if you can pack bags for the Ulster Cancer Foundation. We can then supply you with branded buckets and t-shirts.
However you choose to raise funds, try to encourage your colleagues, family, friends and customers to take part or sponsor you for your efforts.
No matter how big or small, your support and contribution is invaluable.
How we can help you fundraise!
Don’t be daunted by fundraising – once you get started you will be amazed at how quickly you can raise funds and have a great time in the process.
UCF’s experienced staff are available to help and support you every step of the way! We have a range of merchandise available to help with fundraising events such as branded t-shirts, stickers, collection buckets, banners etc. so please contact us to order your support materials.
And remember:
- If you have a sponsorship total in mind, break it down into manageable chunks for example £100 at a time.
- Make it as easy as possible for people to sponsor you. For example collect a cheque, or offer to take it there and then, and enclose a SAE when making a letter approach. Make yourself available and always return calls from people you have contacted.
- Never underestimate the value of your family and friends – they can be a tremendous help and support to your fundraising efforts.
- Always take a note of anyone that has helped you fundraise in order to thank them at the end of your event, informing them of the total amount you raised.
- Always look to your own abilities and strengths. You might be surprised at how you can fundraise by doing things you enjoy for example sports, drama, art, music etc.
