Kilimanjaro Challenge Trek
01/07/2011 - 12/07/2011
At 5,896m, Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain and the highest free standing mountain in the world. Snow capped and shrouded by clouds, the local Chagga people called it Kilema Kyaro meaning 'that which cannot be conquered'. Today, it is the dream of every adventurer to conquer its summit and stand on the roof of Africa.
We will be using the less travelled Machame Route. Our path takes us from the base of this huge dormant volcano, over moorland and rocky trails to the glaciers at the summit. This route gives trekkers the most intoxicating views and as it is slightly longer, it allows greater time for acclimatisation, thus increasing the chances of summit success.
