This service is for people who have had a cancer diagnosis and are either undergoing or are finished their treatment and who would like to take part in guided walks that are tailored to their needs.
The Walking Groups will provide cancer patients and their family members with gentle and appropriate outdoor activity while also offering informal peer support from other members of the group.
Ulster Cancer Foundation is dedicated to helping patients and their families cope with cancer. Our mission is to save lives and provide an enhanced quality of life for all those affected by cancer. People with a cancer diagnosis have to undergo many strong treatments which can affect their energy levels, physical capabilities and consequently affect their confidence and social life.
This new service will provide a means of patients socializing and increasing their energy levels through gentle and appropriate exercise and fresh air.
It will initially be piloted in the South Eastern and Belfast areas through the summer of 2011 andwill then be rolled out across the province.
